The Ministry of Health Zanzibar has said that it will begin to transfer maternity services from Mnazi mmoja Hospital to another hospitals due to the construction, renovation and expansion of the hospital which is expected to start on June this year.
Giving information to the people, the Deputy Minister of Health Zanzibar Hassan Khamis Hafidh has said that due to the start of the procedures for the distribution and construction of the Mnazi mmoja Hospital, maternity services will continue to be provided at different levels of service delivery.
He has informed that these services will be provided in health centers, District Hospitals, and Regional Referral Hospital Lumumba which will provide referral services for the entire period that the Mnazi Mmoja Hospital will be under maintenance.
On his part, the Director General of the Zanzibar Ministry of Health Dr. Amour Suleiman Mohamed has said that they have prepared a special procedure to transfer pregnancy women from the Mnazi mmoja Appeal Hospital to receive care at the Lumumba Regional Hospital without causing any impact.
He has informed that the Ministry of Health will ensure that it sends Specialist Doctors to Regional and District Hospitals to be able to provide services efficiently.
