WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (WHO) WILL CONTINUE TO PROVIDE COOPERATION IN SUCCESSFUL HEALTH SERVICES IN ZANZIBAR

Minister of Health Zanzibar Hon Nassor Ahmed Mazrui talking to representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO) when they arrived at his office Mnazimmoja Zanzibar.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has said it will continue to co-operate with the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar in improving health services in the country.

The statement was issued by the Resident Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Tanzania Dr. Tigest Katsele Mangestu when he came to bid farewell to the Minister of Health Mr. Nassor Ahmed Mazrui in his office Mnazimmoja, after completing his term.

He said the WHO would continue to assist Zanzibar in various matters including community health services as well as the continuation of the Strategic Plan for the Elimination of Cholera.

Dr. Tigest thanked the Government for the co-operation it received during its tenure on behalf of the World Health Organization in Tanzania and pledged support for development in health sector.

The Minister of Health Hon. Nassor Ahmed Mazrui commended the Representative for the cooperation and great efforts he has made to support and strengthen the delivery of quality health services in the country.

He said the WHO had been able to provide professional training to ministry’s staff and help reduce the spread of epidemics as well as provide medical equipment during various illnesses.

Minister Mazrui has asked WHO to encourage other organizations to come and develop an epidemic unit so that it can be strengthened and provide better services.

In another hand the Ministry of Health has received medical supplies from the president of the Tears of joy Institute Jaffar Babu for supporting Health services in the country.
