The Ministry of Health Zanzibar has signed a cooperation agreement with Tanzania’s main pharmaceutical depot, MSD, to strengthen the entire range of pharmaceutical services in the country.
Director General of the Ministry of Health Zanzibar Dr. Amour Suleiman Mohamed has said that the Agreement is a continuation of the agreement that exists for a long time between the Central Medical Store Zanzibar and the Central Medical Store (MSD) to strengthen drug services to be of the highest quality in Tanzania.
He has said that the agreement has included in the entire issues of expertise to build the capacity of the workers, strengthening the infrastructure of the main Drug Depots on the part of Zanzibar and Tanzania mainland, storage of drugs and medical equipment as well as the use of IT.
In addition, he has informed that the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar through the Ministry of Health has prioritized the strengthening of health services including the entire issue of medicine as stipulated in the agreement.
He said that the Ministry of Health through the Central Medical Store will continue to cooperate with MSD in providing quality drug services, especially in the areas of drug import systems, medical equipment, storage and purchase of drugs as well as finding funds to have enough drugs to help. here in the country.
On the part of the Director General of the Central Medical Store Mavare A. Tukai has said that MSD and the Ministry of Health have a historical relationship that has made it possible to strengthen medicine services by sharing experience, experts and cooperating closely when there is an emergency.
He said that the agreement will increase the cooperation that will make it easier to work together especially in the issues of whole systems considering that the demand for drugs and medical equipment is increasing in Tanzania and promised to develop cooperation with Zanzibar by bringing services that go with time.
In another step, the Ministry of Health has signed an agreement with Africa Relief in the United States and Local Potential Enhancing in Canada with the aim of supporting the provision of eye disease services in this country.
Director General of the Ministry of Health Zanzibar Dr. Amour Suleiman Mohamed has said that the campaign will involve the acquisition of equipment for the examination of eye diseases, performing surgery and managing patients diagnosed with eye diseases.
He said that about two hundred citizens will be able to benefit from the program in Unguja and Pemba where one hundred will be served in Unguja and one hundred will be given services on the island of Pemba for cataract treatment.
In addition, he informed that the treatment will be provided through specialist doctors from these institutions in collaboration with local doctors and he has thanked the doctors for coming to provide these services and promised to continue to cooperate with them in eliminating various problems of eye diseases.
