The Ministry of Health Zanzibar has said that it will continue to make great efforts to fight Malaria and ensure that they eliminate it in the country.
The Minister of Health Zanzibar Nassor Ahmed Mazrui has explained this when he had a conversation with the Special Ambassador from the African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA) when he arrived at his office Vuga.
He said that the Ministry of Health in collaboration with various Development Partners are making deliberate efforts to see that malaria is completely eliminated in this country where there are already four countries in Africa that have reached the level of eliminating Malaria in their countries.
He has informed that Zanzibar is a country that depends a lot on tourism and the labor force of the people, so it is very important to see that the disease of Malaria leaves this country like other countries that have succeeded in getting rid of the disease.
He said that the Ministry of Health through the Program to End Malaria is working together with the ALMA Institute and the Special Ambassador from that Institute is due to the collaboration that exists where in this year’s celebration they have planned to do various things including the distribution of bed nets across the country and doing things others
He said that in achieving the new plan to fight Malaria, Minister Mazrui has called on all citizens to fully participate in efforts to eradicate Malaria in this country where a unity council for malaria in Zanzibar will be formed which will involve various organizations, Government, NGOS and citizens whose plan has been successful in eliminating malaria in distant countries away.
For his part, the Special Ambassador from the Institute of African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA) Anthony Okara has said that they will continue to cooperate with Zanzibar to fight against Malaria so that the disease disappear in this country.
He has informed that Zanzibar is making various efforts to eliminate malaria, so the Institute will support those efforts so that Malaria will not be a problem in these islands of Unguja and Pemba.
