The Ministry of Health Zanzibar has said that it intends to strengthen primary health services by putting in place the best quality infrastructure so that citizens can continue to receive treatment without interruption.
This was stated by the Minister Health Zanzibar Nassor Ahmed Mazrui in the continuation of his visit to visit health centers in the Central and Urban Districts to look at the infrastructure and challenges faced by employees.
He has said that in strengthening basic health, the Ministry has planned to carry out major repairs to the centers that will need maintenance and to rebuild the centers that are old in parallel with the installation of medical equipment and human resources.
In addition, he said in health centers, they will ensure that maternal and child health services are strengthened and continue to increase efforts and within four years to provide them with the highest quality services.
He has informed that strengthening services in primary health will greatly help the citizens to get good services within the required time and be able to reduce the congestion in the referral hospital.
He said that they will make sure that they correct all the operational deficiencies in the health centers, starting with the issue of importing medicines in line with the real needs of the patients and other things.
For his part, the Deputy Director of Prevention and Health Education, Dr. Fatma Kabole, has said that in strengthening health services in the centers, employees must work hard in accordance with work ethics, including having a license to do so.
In addition, she has encouraged (CHV) Community health volunteer to continue collaborating with health center workers to take people with various problems, including pregnant mothers and children.
On the part of the Municipal District Doctor, Ibrahim Makame has said that following a visit to health centers in Unguja and Pemba, they will ensure that they change in practice and provide the highest quality services in the country.
He informed that despite working hard, they are still facing the challenge of money to run their work, medical equipment and human resources, leading to unsatisfactory work performance.
