The General Secretary of the Ministry of Health has asked Nurses and Midwives to work professionally and manage their work

The leadership of the Department of Nursing and Midwifery has been required to manage and conduct regular inspections in Hospitals and Health Centers so that employees can provide quality services.

Inaugurating the Advisory Committee in the Department of Nursing and Midwifery, General Secretary Ministry of Health Zanzibar Dr. Fatma Mrisho has said that if there is supervision and inspection of Nurses and Midwives in their workplaces, there will be no complaints for citizens who come to get health services.

She said that the Department of Nursing and Midwifery in collaboration with the Council of Nursing and Midwifery are responsible for strengthening the provision of services in Hospitals and Health Centers by solving existing challenges including professional equipment and staff shortages and conducting various studies and being able to work on them.

On the part of the Director of Nursing and Midwifery at the Ministry of Health, Mwanaisha Juma Fakihi said that the field of nursing and midwifery is an important part of hospitals and health centers and they do a great job in serving the people.

She has informed that due to the growth of the cadre, they have seen the need to create an advisory committee that will be able to advise on a wide range of issues, including professional issues, as well as coordinate training to develop in the profession and provide better services to the community.

She said the Department of Nursing and Midwifery was created due to its importance with the aim of providing quality services to the community and currently the nursing and midwifery cadre should be treated fairly and be able to change the entire service delivery system of the Ministry of Health.

On the part of the representative of the Director of Nursing and Midwifery in Tanzania Paul Magesa has said that they will cooperate with Zanzibar in ensuring that Nursing and Midwifery work is carried out.

He said that if Zanzibar Nurses and Midwives are able to stand up well, they will be able to achieve many things to bring progress and get rid of complaints for those who go to get health services in hospitals and health centers.

In another step, the Minister of Health Zanzibar Nassor Ahmed Mazrui has held talks with the representative of the Director of the Department of Nursing and Midwifery in Mainland Tanzania Paul Magesa and promised to collaborate with the Ministry of Health Zanzibar, especially in the field of Nursing and Midwifery.
