Mnazi Mmoja Referral Hospital Zanzibar in collaboration with the Muhimbili Orthopedic Institute MOI have run a special camp for artificial knee and hip implants where more than 16 patients have undergone surgery in a period of five days.
The camp has been held as a continuation of the collaboration between the Mnazi Mmoja Referral Hospital and the MOI Institute with the aim of moving specialist and medical services closer to the people.
Minister of Health Zanzibar, Hon. Nassor Marzui has said that this camp is the implementation of the order of the President of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, Dr. Hussein Ally Mwinyi to ensure that citizens get professional and affordable services without having to follow those services in Dar es Salaam or abroad.
The Executive Director of Mnazi Mmoja Referral Hospital Dr. Muhiddin Abdi Mahmoud has thanked the President of the United Republic of Tanzania and the President of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar Hon Dr. Hussein Mwinyi, Minister of Health Zanzibar Hon. Nassor Mazrui for strong management in the Health sector.
Also, Dr. Muhiddin thanked the Managing Director of MOI Prof. Abel Makubi for agreeing to establish a partnership with Mnazi Mmoja Hospital in Zanzibar as well as sending a panel of specialist doctors and nurses to provide services to the people of Tanzania on the islands.
And, Acting Executive Director of MOI Dr. Violet Lupondo has said that the MOI Institute has been actively implementing the Government’s order to ensure that the specialized services of the MOI are brought closer to the people where currently those services are available in various areas in the country in order to reduce the inconvenience of following the services of the MOI in Dar es Salaam.
