CBM promised to continue support their aid to Zanzibar

The Cristian Blind Mission CBM organization has said it will continue its aid to Zanzibar in reaching visually impaired children by providing various services including education and health so that they can achieve their life goals.

This was stated by the Resident Director of CBM Tanzania Nesia Mahenge at Kiswandui School when the organization’s delegation made a special visit to check the projects sponsored by the organization through the Mnazimmoja Referral Hospital.

He has informed that the CBM Organization is an international organization that provides services to approximately 41 countries and is more involved in providing services for people with disabilities and in Zanzibar they help students with special needs in the Kiswandui school by providing equipment and other services.

He said on the part of Kiswandi School, they are satisfied with the profession they offer to the students of the school due to making a great effort to provide them with a profession as well as the cooperation they have between teachers, students and parents.

On the part of the head teacher of Kiswandui School, Ali Abdalla Mahmoud, he is grateful for the aid provided by the CBM Organization and they enable the students to study effectively despite having a difficult teaching environment due to the lack of equipment and teachers.

He has informed that due to this situation, the Government through the Ministry of Education and Practical Training and other institutions are making every effort to see that students with special needs are given the same education as other students.

He said that currently the Ministry of Education and Practical Training is planning for every District to have an Education Class for students with special needs to be able to overcome the challenges of pursuing education at a distance.

On the part of the parents of children with special needs, they have said that they are facing a big challenge of transportation, so they have asked the Government to make an effort to have their own special transportation to take them to and from school and avoid problems in the street.

In another step, the management of the CBM Organization has held talks with the Minister of Health and the Leaders of that Ministry and promised to continue to support the Health Sector in all aspects of services for people with disabilities.

And on the part of the Minister of Health of Zanzibar Nassor Ahmed Mazrui has explained the message that they are considering the whole issue of people with disabilities and in ten hospitals of the District and one of the region they have focused on people with disabilities.
