The Ministry of Health Zanzibar has said it will continue its collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) in strengthening health services in the country.
The Minister of Health Zanzibar Nassor Ahmed Mazrui said this in his office when he welcomed the new Resident Representative of the World Health Organization in Tanzania when he arrived to introduce himself.
He said WHO is doing a great job here in the country to ensure that they are fighting various diseases, including infectious and non-infectious ones, as well as building the capacity of its employees.
He has informed that due to the increase of NCD non-communicable diseases, he has asked the representative to cooperate more closely in providing them with various guidelines to deal with these diseases, to build the capacity of his employees as well as medical equipment.
In addition, he informed that the organization has been able to help a lot in various vaccination issues, including the 19th vaccine, the cholera vaccination program whose strategy is to completely eradicate cholera in 2021/27 here in Zanzibar.
He said that the existing cooperation between the Government through the Ministry of Health will continue and plans will be implemented so that the people of Zanzibar will be free from diseases.
For his part, the Resident Representative of the World Health Organization WHO in Tanzania Charles Sego Moses has said that he will continue cooperation with Zanzibar through the Ministry of Health to develop work and strategic plans through the Organization.
He has said that in his implementation of work in Tanzania, he will ensure that various issues are implemented, including vaccination, dealing with disasters and various diseases.
