Vaccination

Meaning:

It is a protection that is given to living organisms to protect themselves from infectious diseases. Vaccines are usually given to a living organism before they become infected. It is not given to the person who is already infected, rather needs another treatment and not vaccine.

Ministry of Health Zanzibar provide three (3) types of vaccines. They are: –

  1. Yellow fever vaccine
  2. Hepatitis B
  3. Meningococcal vaccine

Yellow fever vaccine

This vaccine is provided by the Ministry of Health Zanzibar and not elsewhere. This vaccine is specific for travelers who travel abroad. A traveler who needs this vaccine should be given this vaccine 10 days before departure.

This vaccine is given three (3) days a week and the time for this vaccine is 7:30 am early in the morning.

In order to get this vaccine, the participant must bring a shadow or a valid passport. This vaccine for the person who already vaccinated develops lifelong immunity (from 2018). 

Hepatitis B

This service provided every day and for anyone. The time is 7:00 am in the morning until 10:00 am. This service is provided by coming up with a hospital response that indicates you have not had a liver infection. If you are already infected you will not get this vaccine, but you will be advised to continue with treatment at the hospital. This vaccine has three phases (3):-

  • The first phase is for the first month
  • The second phase is for the following month
  • And the third phase takes place after three (3) or six months

Once the participant receives all three (3) vaccines, he or she will develop immunity for 20 years.

Meningococcal vaccine

This immunization is given to individuals or groups daily, from 7:00 am to 10:00 am. This does not require a response from a hospital or a document. This immunity for three years.

ALL TRAVELERS WHO WANT TO GO ABROAD MUST GET ALL VACCINES BEFORE HE/SHE TRAVEL.

Vaccine Service’s day: Monday – Wednesday – Friday

You are required to vaccinate 10 days before departure.
