Dr. Rashid Masoud, the champion surgeon at Mnazimmoja General Hospital, has encouraged the public about the various medical services provided at the hospital.
He gave the advice after a discussion meeting through the ‘zoom’ with a panel of doctors from Jiangsu Hospital in China held yesterday.
The discussion was about how to provide treatment to a patient suffering from colon cancer who is admitted to the hospital.
“We wanted professional advice on the best way to treat this patient, considering our colleagues have made great strides”.
“These consultation sessions are good for us doctors and our patients, the gateway being to provide the best treatment”
He said, similar discussions are held with doctors here in the country, but that was done due to the nature of the problem and the absence of a direct specialist outside of the existing doctors.
He said, after the consultation, the patient will start with medication and after three months he is expected to undergo surgery.
“When we ask for the advice of a specialist doctor from another country, we even save money because the patient will not be transported.
“What we did was not for this case that happened, the Head of Doctors from China, Professor Jiang Guoqing, expressed his expectation of continued cooperation for the development of the health sector in Zanzibar.
In addition, he thanked the Ministry of Health and the Government for the way they provide great cooperation when Chinese doctors arrive in Zanzibar to provide various services.
