The Second VICE President of Zanzibar Hon. Hemed Suleiman Abdulla has said that the presence of oxygen production plants in the Lumumba Regional Referral Hospital will eliminate the disruption of the provision of services to patients in all Government and Private hospitals in the country.
He said this during the launch of Oxygen Plants at the West Urban Regional Hospital LUMUMBA.
He said that the action of closing the plants will facilitate the provision of services to patients and reduce the cost of purchasing and transporting air, which was a major obstacle for patients.
He said that the medical air service that will be produced in the hospital will be distributed in various Government and private hospitals to ensure that citizens get the best and modern treatment and achieve the Government’s goals of providing quality services to all the citizens of Zanzibar from the District to the National level.
He has informed that the Government of the Eighth Phase (8) has been making efforts to ensure that the Health Sector has expert doctors and modern equipment to provide the best treatment to the citizens, which reflects the Development Vision of Zanzibar for the year 2050 which aims to maintain the system of access to health services, health with expert professionals, technology and modern medical equipment.
On his part, the Minister of Health of Zanzibar Nassor Ahmed Mazurui has said that the launch of Air Treatment Plants in Lumumba Regional Referral Hospital will help reduce the cost of purchasing and transporting Oxygen as well as reducing the challenge of the lack of this service.
He said that the availability of air therapy will awaken the spirit, speed and strength of work for health workers in providing quality services to patients, while thanking all the donors and managers who helped to achieve the closing of the plants, including the main donors Global Fund for providing cooperation that led to completion on time the packaging is carried out with high quality.
In addition, he has given instructions to the operators of the plants to maintain and repair them at the scheduled time so that they can last for a long time and continue to provide services without hesitation.
Giving a professional statement, the Director General of the Ministry of Health Zanzibar, Dr. Amour Suleiman Mohamed, said that a large plant capable of producing 40 cubic meters of oxygen will be connected to the air therapy chain in the wards, operating rooms, ICU, emergency and medical services. The other will produce 20 cubic meters per hour and will be used to fill medical air in cylinders and be distributed in various hospitals in Unguja and Pemba Districts.
On his part, the representative from Gobal Fund SARA ASIMWE has thanked for getting great cooperation from the Government of Zanzibar during the entire period of preparations for the installation of the Plant up to the point of handing it over to the Government to start providing services to the people.
Sara has said that the medical air plants have considered the quality and needs of the beneficiaries where they will be able to provide services to the whole of Zanzibar for every hospital that needs the treatment.
The plants to produce medical air have cost more than eight hundred thousand dollars which have been provided by the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar in collaboration with the Global Fund who are the main sponsors of the project.
