The Second Vice President of Zanzibar Hemed Suleiman Abdulla has said that the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar will continue its cooperation with China

The Second Vice President of Zanzibar Hemed Suleiman Abdulla has said that the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar will continue its cooperation with China with the aim of strengthening Health services for the people as well as contributing to achieving the goals of sustainable development of Health in the world.

Speaking on his behalf, The Minister of Health Zanzibar Nassor Ahmed Mazrui in the 60th anniversary of cooperation between the province of Jiangsu in China and the Ministry of Health Zanzibar held in Golden Tulip said that China continues to support the Government’s efforts to achieve various services including Health Industry.

He said that doctors from China, Jingsu province, have been working in various Hospitals and have helped provide services for some diseases that have been bothering Zanzibar for a long time, including schistosomiasis, malaria and cervical cancer.

He said that the important history of cooperation has brought great success, including treating more than eight million patients, performing surgeries for various diseases on more than two hundred thousand patients, as well as saving patients with various diseases.

He added that apart from treatment, the doctors have been able to provide knowledge and technology used by Zanzibar doctors that help treat and diagnose infectious and non-infectious diseases, which increases the strength of the health sector in the country.

Speaking about cervical cancer, he said that until March this year, more than twenty-six thousand women have been examined and those diagnosed with the problem are more than 1500 who were able to receive appropriate and timely treatment.

In addition to that, he thanked the team of schistosomiasis doctors who until August have been able to examine more than 60,000 patients in One Hundred and Nine Shehia on the island of Pemba, which made it possible to reach zero percent of the disease.

Mr. Hemed has stressed that it is time to achieve common goals by ensuring that the best health services are achieved by training health professionals of all cadres, starting scientific and creative researches, starting joint projects to treat chronic diseases, the use of modern technology, strengthening services of mother and child health, community education of preventive services along with sustainable health services.

In addition, he said that the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar appreciates the aid provided by the Government of the People’s Republic of China, including medicines, doctors, medical equipment, staff houses, which have played a big role in ending the problems that were affecting the Health sector in the country.

In addition to that Hon. Hemed has asked China to look at other opportunities available including tourism, blue economy, oil and gas, which will increase many investors from the country and enable Zanzibar to achieve its goals of bringing development to the people.

The head of JIANGSU XU KUNLIN has promised to continue to cooperate with the government in different areas of the health sector to see that Zanzibar can provide expert treatment without spending a lot of money to send patients abroad.

He has informed that for a while those who were doing treatment in the country have been able to bring about reforms in the health sector, which motivates them to continue to bring other teams of doctors along with increasing various medical aid and equipment to end the problem in the existing hospitals in the country.

The Director of Prevention and Health Education Zanzibar Dr. Salim Slim has thanked the Government through the Ministry of Health which has had good policies that enable development partners including China, the United States and other countries to bring health professionals, medical equipment along with providing training to native doctors which increases the efficiency of delivery of the best health services in the country.

In the celebration, the Ministry of Health Zanzibar has signed a collaboration agreement with the JIANGSU Hospital in parallel with the provision of medicines for various diseases.
