The Ministry of Health Zanzibar has signed an agreement contract with the American Electronic Health Network (EHN) with the aim of strengthening the Health Sector and ensuring the safety and quality of services provided from health centers to Referral hospitals.
Speaking after signing the contract at Vuga, the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Health Zanzibar, Dr. Mngereza Mzee Miraji said that the contract is focused on improving the human resources and practitioners of the Health sector in Zanzibar which will begin by building a specialized training center for those practitioners.
He added that other things that will be involved in the contract is the construction of modern infrastructure from the primary health level to the main hospitals along with the integration of ICT systems which will provide easy of access to information at all levels.
He added that the implementation of the contract is expected to be completed within five years and to achieve the government’s goals of providing quality and professional services in the country.
The Director General of the Ministry of Health Dr. Amour Suleiman Mohammed has said that the agreement will speed up the performance of the ZHSF by providing funds that will provide opportunities for citizens to benefit from the services provided by the fund in the country.
Giving a word of thanks, Director from EHN Jamal Bahabri said it is time for the two institutions to increase cooperation especially when a problem arises in order to take appropriate measures involving all parties.
He added that their goal is to see Zanzibar promote itself due to the quality that will be found in the provision of health services, which will provide an opportunity for other countries to come and study in the country.
The contract has cost a total of Three Hundred and Seventy Three Million US Dollars.
