The Ministry of Health Zanzibar has said that it will cooperate with the Uniting to Combat Neglected Tropical Disease Institute from UK in helping Zanzibar to fight against Neglected disease.
The Minister of Health Zanzibar Nassor Ahmed Mazrui said this when he had a conversation with the Executive Director of the Institute that deals with non-prioritized diseases from UK Mrs. Thoko Elphick Pooley who came to introduce her self to the Minister of Health.
He has said that the Government through the Ministry of Health Zanzibar and various development partners are continuing to fight the disease and coming to the Institute will continue efforts to end the disease in this country.
He has informed that diseases that are not given priority are affecting many people in the world and even losing their lives, so they will continue to cooperate with various organizations to see that these diseases, including schistosomiasis, lymphatic filariasis, worms, completely disappear from this country.
For her part, the Executive Director of the Institute that deals with non-prioritized diseases from UK, Thoko Elphick Pooley, has said that her institution has joined forces with various organizations in the world to deal with non-prioritized diseases in African countries.
She said they will help Zanzibar in fighting these diseases in order to be able to eliminate them completely by providing professions to its employees at the same time as providing them with funds with the aim of eliminating these diseases in this country.
