eIDSR Information
The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, through the Ministry of Health Zanzibar (MOHZ), has adopted the Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) as the platform for disease surveillance activities. Currently, Zanzibar’s IDSR guideline is aligned with the 3rd edition World Health Organization (WHO) AFRO guidelines for IDSR. It includes surveillance and response protocols for 44 diseases and conditions of public health importance.
The ministry embarked on a project to strengthen the System further. The MOHZ developed and implemented a comprehensive electronic Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (eIDSR) system to align with the Zanzibar Digital Health Strategy for 2020 – 2025 and the 3rd World Health Organization (WHO) AFRO guidelines for IDSR. The eIDSR System is an electronic system with electronic tools that facilitate the reporting and response of the IDSR.
